SOLANO COUNTY

Solano County R.O.C.K.S.!
(Reaching Out to Connect Kids!)

Over the past two years, Solano County has focused attention on the needs of transitional age youth, including the creation of a Youth Action Team (YAT) partially funded by the Stuart Foundation. The team meets monthly and members receive a stipend for participation. The YAT involves youth in the planning and implementation of services for the foster care population, and provides a medium for youth to offer input on agency matters, including providing input to the Solano County Connected by 25 workgroups. The YAT created the name for Solano's CPYP project, Solano County R.O.C.K.S.!

At YAT meetings:

  • Youth take leadership or participate in finding permanent lifelong connections for themselves

  • Youth get involved in preparing and making an education, financial, or housing action plan before leaving foster care.
