FRANCISCO COUNTY San Francisco County now has obtained additional money to focus on youth permanence from augmented adoption funds and funds from Carole Migden's bill. Also, in July 2005, the county (through CPYP) received a grant from the Pottruck Foundation. Part of this grant will be used to fund visits to successful youth permanence programs. San Francisco has just had their third training with Kevin Campbell. This training met with a fair bit of resistance, because the workers expressed the feeling that they have too much to do. However, offering the services of a family-finding worker from another contract greatly improved the workers' attitude toward (and cooperation with) the project. At the recent CPYP Annual Conference, attendees from San Francisco took the opportunity to ask colleagues from other counties how they have addressed this kind of worker resistance. They received several suggestions.
